The Bucs struggled significantly on kickoff coverage in playoff wins over San Francisco and Philadelphia, but had no trouble containing the Raiders' return men, allowing Oakland an average kickoff drive start of the 26-yard line. Ivy was instrumental in that tight coverage, recording a Super Bowl-high three special teams tackles. Coincidentally, Ivy's big day came exactly one year after his signing with the Buccaneers was announced, on January 26, 2001. Ivy was one of 10 'reserve/future' signings the Bucs revealed on that day, two weeks after the 2001 season ended with a Wild Card loss in Philadelphia. Though most of the 10 names on that list were far from household names, two of those 10 ended up in the Super Bowl with the Bucs a year later – Ivy and DE Ron Warner. On Friday, the Bucs announced another group of 10 reserve/future signings for the 2003 season. One or more of those 10 could duplicate Ivy's path to the active roster next fall, just as DT Chartric Darby did in 2001 and RB Aaron Stecker did in 2000.
