It is obvious that this was a convenience move more than anything else, as Anne Deluca has no true qualifications to be the athletic director. Like him or not, Cal Pfeifer got the job done. He made sure that every team was ready to go for their season. Each team had adequate funding in their respective accounts, support, and coaches. Anne Deluca cannot even handle the simple task of hiring a coach. After last season, baseball coach John Node quit. That was in June. The baseball team did not get a new coach until November. There is absolutely no reason that five months should pass before a coach was hired. It cannot be said that there were no applicants, because Anne Deluca admitted herself to not putting out ads for a new coach until around September/October. Why is it that Arlington, a school that once prided itself on being the finest school in Riverside County in academics, but also in athletics, cannot even manage to field even a decent team in any sport? The answer is indifference. The powers that be do not take athletics seriously enough. If they did, a real athletic director would have been hired, not a secretary. Three years ago, Arlington had the best teams in nearly every sport. ...
