Eliezers one true personal weakness at the camp was his father. He loved his father so much that he couldn’t bear to see Franek beat him because of him. He new it wasn’t fair that his father be punished because of Elies gold tooth. When Franek beats Elie’s father his reaction is that of being angered. Not mad at Franek, but mad at his father for not knowing any better than to get out of his way. He is enraged because he thinks his father should know when Franked is on the edge or snapping and should stay clear of him in order to not get beaten or hurt.
