In the notebook Jessica wrote about how she loved her sister, and family, and how she always watched out and cared for her sisters daughter named Lottie. Suddenly he remembered his grandma's name was Lottie, but she had died in a war a couple of years after his mom was born. Omri ran down stairs and asked his mom if she knew a Jessica Charlotte, and his mom said, yes she was my great aunt. My mom then said Jessica would rarely visit her grandma Maria and herself because as an actress she always traveled. Omri had figured out how she was related to him! Now, the mystery was what did she know about the cupboard? On the next page Omri read about how she had made this magical key with a red ribbon around it, that could open anything. Just when Omri was about to find out what she knew about the cupboard, the writing on the next page had changed. The writing started to look like another person had written in it. In the notebook it read "my toy company is closing because of the invention of plastic." Before Omri could finish the notebook, he heard a doorbell ring. At the door was a thatcher, the thatcher said that he had found a list of names in the thatching. Omri ran down stairs and asked the men whose names they were. The men said, "those were old thatchers who had thatched the house before us." Omri asked one man if any of the men are still alive. The man said yes, Tom Towsler lives at Fiacare Estate. On Sunday Omri went to visit Mr. Towsler. Tom said that Jessica Charlotte had become very sick and almost died. Jessica trusted Tom so she always gave him chores. One day she asked Tom to deliver the magical cupboard to a girl named Maria. That is how his great grandmother got the cupboard. The next day when Tom returned from the delivery Jessica Charlotte had died. Omri rushed home to read the notebook to find out why his great aunt needed to deliver the magical cupboard to Maria before Jessica died. The notebook read "before my mom died", which meant the writer must be Fredrick, Jessica's son.
