My epiphany
...ealistic. I thought those pictures where cool at first until I looked at the pictures and realized that those pictures have nothing to do with being Asian or being proud of your race. A lot of younger kids thought that you had to have fancy cell phones, blonde bangs, or nice cars to be “True Asian”. I used to buy into these ideas but then I thought to myself “What does Asian Pride really mean?” and it came to me. It was a simple answer. Asian pride means to be proud of your background and proud to be Asian. It was a simple answer but it took me long to find, because my mind was so clouded by the misconceptions that everyone was putting into everyone else’s head. I noticed from my peers that you are “more Asian” if you have a car or nice cell phone. I tell my friends that having these things doesn’t make you more or less Asian.
