Mount Bachelor VS Mount Hood
...s lodge span’s almost the whole base of the mountain and has two “wings” that are connected by a sky bridge over entrance stairs to the mountain, also Timberlines lodge Is quite large as well and has a famous hotel that you can see in the movie “The Shinning”. Actually the lodge at Timberline goes up the mountain about 100 yards with its second story. Granted Bachelor’s lodge is big but not even close to Hoods two resorts. The bigger mountain fact of Bachelor gives way to another difference in the mountains, which is riding terrain. The fact that it takes almost twice as long to get across Bachelor’s run’s than hoods is a huge difference from the two. Its “northern express” lift is on the complete opposite side of the mountain than it’s “butter cup” lift. Hood on the other hand has two resort’s on each side of the mount but if you wanted to ride the whole mountain, you would have to pay for two lift tickets, one for Meadows and one for Timberline, while as Bachelor you just have to pay for the one. The next comparison goes for snowboarders. The snowboard parks on Hood are much nicer than that of Bachelor. I’m backing this statement on the fact that Bachelor does have one huge park but the transition’s (landing slope) and “lip’s” (top of jump) aren’t that smooth. Hood on the other hand has numerous parks that are built with precision for the transition’s and lip’s. Another type of park that can be compared for the two best mountains in Oregon are the rail park’s. Bachelor only has one, which is decent, but the rail’s are put so close together that you can’t hit all of the ones you want to. Hood has way more rail parks. I’m not even sure how many cause I haven’t been to all of them at timberline and meadows, but I know there is a lot more, and that they are put together nicely. The chair lifts on both mountains are put in such a position that it is easy to get around each of the mounts by just riding one lift. But there is a difference in this statement because there are three types of chair lifts in Oregon, two and three skaters and a “quad” lift. Both the two and three seater lifts go the same speed and can go up the whole mountain, but a quad can reach speed’s twice as fast as the others and can hold four people comfortably with a safety bar over head to keep the riders safely seated. Although Mount Hood Meadows and Timberline have about two of these quads each, the rest of the lifts are two or three seaters. Bachelor, on the other hand,...
