Montesque vs Voltaire
... Montesquieu had many accomplishments in his life. The first thing he did was write the Persian Letters, which was exceptionally social satire. It criticized European culture, customs, beliefs and religion. He also wrote the Spirit of Laws. That was made to criticize the government by using reason. Montesquieu believed in separation of powers, which led to his belief that Despotism and Tyranny could be avoided if political power was divided or shared by varieties of classes. He had one more belief that stated a strong, rich and independent upper class was an important asset. Voltaire is a different story. Voltaire was imprisoned for insulting a regent in his earlier life. His own harsh experiences led him to his struggle against Legal Injustice and unequal treatment by the law. He is considered one of the most influential philosophes. Voltaire wrote a book called the Philosophical Dictionary, in which caused religious controversy among people.
