... crewmembers could see that the situation would most likely cause harm to their boat and even put their lives in danger, but Ahab’s strong will and pursuit for Moby Dick caused him to overlook the threat. Sure enough, it put them in a tough predicament, but they got themselves safely out of it. Ahab continued throughout the rest of the movie to overlook the dangers that were staring him right in the face, and he continued putting everyone’s lives in danger. Moby Dick was a test for mankind. Not one of the crewmembers could pinpoint what it was about him that brought a sense of curiosity to the ship’s passengers. There was something about Moby Dick that made him seem as if he were here as a test from God to see how far humans would push themselves to get what they want. Although Ahab thought of Moby Dick as an evil character, he was just an animal doing what he knew how to do. Ishmael is an example of a person who cannot find what they want out of life.
