In the process he created an army by virtually inventing guerrilla warfare. On the "Bloody Sunday," the IRA assassinated 19 British spies in cold blood on the streets of Dublin. Having helped fight the British to a standstill, Collins then negotiated a Treaty with Britain which led to a split in the Irish republican movement. The treaty was very much disliked among the revolutionaries since Ireland only was a free state that still had to swear oath to the British crown. On top of that Ireland was divided into two different countries: Ireland and Northern Ireland. The result of all this was a Civil War between the supporters...
