Pre-marital sex is not allowed and divorcing is also not allowed. The Mennonite culture apposes ethnic or religious inter marriage. A Mennonite must always marry another Mennonite. Although the Mennonite people do have these controls on their people they never rely on the outside world for help each member of the family helps out the other. In the Mennonite culture every member of the family has a role which is necessary for the families survival. It is considered patriarchy because the father is the head of household and he is also considered the breadwinner. The wife and kids are always secondary to the father. The mother always stays home to take care of the kids and do the housework. When a couple gets married the bride will always live with the groom’s family until they get another house. Every member of the Mennonite culture has a role in the community. Most of the male teenagers work on the farm and the women prepare the meals.
