Martin Scorsese Vs. Woody Allen in New York Stories
...ice and a few normal apartments, and we really feel like we belong in the movie. Woody Allen welcoms us to become a caracter so that we can relate to the film on a completely different level. Scorsese's film was heavy and drmatic. He lets us watch two dark characters carry on a relationship that is so obviously sick and problem filled. We see an artist with many problems and complexes who needs pain in his life in order to paint. Also there is the female who has her own set of problems just trying to make it as an artist. Throughout the whole movie, you can actually feel how uncomfortable this relationship is, and by the end you are glad it is over. Woody Allen's film is a light hearted comedy, filled with witiness and sarcasim. Allen shows us the life of a man who has an exagerated overbearing mother. We see how she is ruining his life, and it makes us laugh. In the end Allen's character is changes completely by the mother and ends up in love with someone just like her. The movie, along with the title is a slice of comedic genious. Both films use music in a noticable way.
