Marijuana Should be Re-legalized
...ana in a safer legal way. While the merits of medical use for marijuana are fairly easily defined, those for recreational use are not. Basically, the argument for the use of marijuana recreationally doesn't lie in the act of use itself. The argument lies in the right to offer your own consciousness and world view, if done in a responsible manner. We should have learned the dangers of the taking away of the right during the Prohibition Era. When the banning of alcohol actually increased its use and because of it, gave immense wealth and power to organized crime and created more crime through bootlegging. When the Prohibition laws were repealed, the damage was already done, creating an endless stream of genetically-prone alcoholics and abused children, because alcoholism runs in families and adults who were abused as children usually abuse their children too. It is interesting to note that marijuana was made illegal around the same time, the so-called "Reefer Madness" days, but the prohibition of marijuana was never repealed.
