Marching band
...y in recognizing all the essential efforts of a whole unit necessary to be victorious. Being a part of an extended family gives me completeness from within. Marching band is an effort that requires a bond among all in order for it to be successful. It has instilled in me the importance of unity and respect for every individual, embracing the uniqueness of every band member for there is unity in diversity. Every person in this world is different and by embracing this our organization thrived. Holding the position of Junior Drill Instructor and the following year receiving the honor of being Band Captain has taught me numerous lessons in life. As John F. Kennedy uttered, “Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.” Definitely being a part of the marching band with a leadership position has opened my mind and expanded my knowledge of life-long lessons that must be learned. One lesson I have learned is that in order to be respected by your fellow band members you must first humble yourself and also be a friend before being anything else. You must also maintain a positive outlook no matter what problems you may face. These lessons are essential in not only band but in life and being a part of the marching band has definitely instilled these lessons within my character.
