This struggle with Germany over Morocco lead to a grave crisis in 1911, giving the impression France was unable to act and to resist because of internal conflicts, and therefore, World War 1 was a good opportunity for France to prove the contrary and to turn its population’s attention away from these internal crises. Generally, these conflicts reinforced the French thought that Germany was a threat to France’s territory / colonies, thus France used World War 1 to get rid of its German rival. France managed to once again become a powerful nation in Europe, and started meddling in affairs that didn’t concern her, helping nations in the Balkans (Serbia) that were opposed to Austria-Hungary, Germany’s allies.
