LOYALTY: LIKE AN INSTRUMENT, IT TAKES A LOT OF TIME TO PERFECT
...loyalty to a musician or a band in away differs from being loyal to a friend or family member. For friends or family members loyalty is about being trust worthy, about being faithful, and about always being there for a certain person. Loyalty between a musician and a fan is similar but also very different. Fans show their loyalty towards a musician by buying their music, merchandise, and by going to shows, when they come into town. A musician can show loyalty, in a away that I feel a family member or friend can’t, I feel that through tough times that anyone of us might go through, when we don’t feel like talking to anyone about our problem, we listen to music to get help us forget about the issue at hand, even if its just for a minute. Loyalty between a fan and a musician is earned and it takes a lot of time for that trust to build up. The best way I can explain this is, when a musician first “bursts on to the seen” they don’t become popular right away. It takes a lot time for that first time listener to become loyal enough to the music, were they would spend fifteen dollars on a CD. A musician might become loyal to his/her fans after their music is first heard by writing more music and music that their fans understand and enjoy, even if it means changing their type of music that got them popular in the first place. ...
