...tory of infidelity, a love triangle is established. Nectar Kapshaw cheats on his wife Marie with Lulu Lamartine. Lulu is known for being quite promiscuous; in fact she has eight sons, many of which have different fathers. As the affair progresses, Nectar intends to leave his wife for Lulu; however, his plans change when Lulu rejects him. Despite his unfaithfulness, Marie pretends like the affair never happened and continues on with her life as if it were any normal day. In a different story, where the book gets its title, the strong belief in healing powers is described. Lipsha Morissey has a gift for healing people. His grandmother Marie, whom I mentioned in the previous paragraph, is a strong believer in this gift of healing; however, Lipsha doesn’t view it as anything out of the ordinary. His grandmother asks him to make a love medicine to strengthen the love between her and her husband and to keep them together forever. In order to do this, he Lipsha must kill two geese and have his grandparents eat the hearts. He is unsuccessful in his goose hunt, so his is forced to buy frozen turkeys from the grocery store instead. Even though his grandparents didn’t eat the real goose hearts, Marie was such a strong believer in the love medicine that she believed it would work. Another story begins with the death of June Kapshaw, frozen to death in a snowstorm. Her son, King, inherits her insurance and uses it to buy a new car.
