Regardless of the outcome, the relationship was usually carried along with it throat lumps, twisted stomaches, weak knees, sweaty palms, dizzyness, and occasional nausea. History clearly shows this connection with love through the years. Could one ever forget Van Gogh’s ear? The construction of the Eiffel Tower? Any of the many William Shakespeare writings? All of these were results of love and love lost. Star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet have said that love is “not hand nor foot nor any part belonging to a man.” Matrimonial ceremonies also claim that love is “not jealous or boastful.” Let it be stated now that love also is not a gourmet dish, not an animal, and not a latest trend. Love is not to be confused with tape or cell phones or anything else that it isn’t. It just seems too easy to explain what love is not, yet when asked to define what it is, the question is followed by all too familiar “umm…”s, “well…”s, “like…”s, and “you see...”s.
