Lord of the flies
...come up with a chant as well as a dance. The chant goes as follows “Kill the Beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!” It was while doing this chant and their killing dance did they kill what they thought was the beast, Simon. All the hunters start painting their faces and start their own tribe and go against Ralph’s tribe. In my opinion President Bush is kind of a bit like Jack he is quite obsessed with killing. Most of the boys start to get scared once the littuns start talking about the “beast” that they have seen. This is all in their heads and there is no actual beast. This fear of the beast also eventually leads the boys into killing Simon thinking that he was the beast. Also most boys switch from Ralph’s tribe, the sensible tribe, to Jacks tribe to be most secure and feel safer, to be with the hunters. This relates to peoples fears of deaths and of people and/or things that are different. Also it directly relates to fears controlling people’s lives, the beast starts out as a little fear then they end up focusing their lives on it. Civilization is fragile is another theme which is very well displayed in the novel Lord of the Flies. The novel starts out having the boys well-civilized, dressed in school uniforms, they want to get rescued, they elect a chief, employ the conch, and so on. All the boys agree on having authority and democracy then slowly it all starts to fade away. The boys are slowly wearing less and less clothes until they ar...
