If she took the time to see that she is not that different she would have less of a problem with everyone. Josie has problems at home which is the case in most families so this does relate to normal teenage life but her living arrangements are different to a lot of peoples as she lives only with her mum as an only child. Since there is just the two girls in the house I would expect them to be very good friends but they argue a lot. Josie’s home life is quite different in the way she has only recently met her father. The issues Josie faces at school are a lot the same as our own such as; relationships, teachers, friends, bitchiness, bullying, suicide etc. So I think that the issues in the book relate well to ‘normal’ teen issues. At school, Josie is different to us because she goes to a private all girls’ school and would probably not have as good social skills towards the opposite sex as us since we have always mixed with them our whole life.
