Lightening Strikes Twice

On her wedding day with the socialite, a lawyer confronts Melanie with the fact that she has not yet signed the Divorce papers so technically she’s still married to Jake. Melanie has the choice right there to sign and marry the socialite but chooses not to because she realizes her true love is her first love, Jake. She re-unites with her husband, Jake, showing that "lightening" does strike the same place twice. Not only does the lightening symbolize the plot in "Sweet Home Alabama" but it also symbolizes the theme.
