Lifeguard Training

...ere two parts of training: the first part was water skills and inwater rescue, the second part was book work which contained out the water rescue, such as CPR and rescue breathing. Training was not easy for me. I trained at a pool in downtown Atlanta named John F. Kennedy. This pool was in the heart of the ghetto. Everyday a homeless person would attack me for some money. The pool was also in a horrible condition. The bottom of the pool looked like a bunch of crap was smeared on it, and the pool was never a pretty blue, it was green as a leaf. Everyday I was petrified to get into the water. I would always hope that day was a book day instead of a water day. Everyday I had to be there at eight in the morning, it was the worst feeling to have to get up from a good sleep to come to this place. The training was very difficult, before we did anything everyday we had to swim a 500, keep in mind that this is eight-thirty o’clock in the morning.
