...st for which I am proud of. So far in my life I’m pretty satisfied with the things that I have accomplished. On the other hand I know I could have worked harder to accomplish greater things that would make my life a better succession. Through out my life the one person that sticks out in my mind who has taught me about the best way to go about living has been my grandpa. I can remember him telling me stories of the great things he did throughout his lifetime, which I eventually got to share and see. The best memory I have is the time we went to the boundary waters. The week that we went was the coldest of the year for the summer. Everybody wanted to just stay around the campfire and talk but my grandpa wasn’t satisfied with that. He wanted to get out and fish. He said that nothing was going to stop him from doing what he wanted to do not even the weather. So my grandpa and I went out fishing. It was so cold I could barely feel my fingers. The wind was brushing up against my face numbing every inch. We found a little cove where the water looked like glass and began fishing. We were out there for about an hour before my grandpa or I got a bite. I was the first to catch a fish but it was only a little bass. Around ten minutes passed when out of nowhere my grandfather got this massive bite. He was reeling it in as fast as he could. For being so cold he sure was sweating a lot. It was running down his face like a little waterfall. When he finally got the fish in the boat; we realized it was a fifteen-pound walleye. I just looked in amazement. My grandpa looked at me and said something I will never forget, “The great use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it”(James, William). At that moment I didn’t have a clue what he was saying but I knew it was important. When he died this past year I was in his house and walked by the wall where that fish hung and I realized at that exact moment what he was talking about.
