It is addressed to every man in the world as an individual and nothing else.”(Skidmore, Max J., 1989) What this says to me is that no matter what color your skin is, class you belong to, or religion you believe in you are inferior to no one. Liberalism clearly states that everyone has their own individual right to say what they want, believe what they want to believe, and that all people are equal. If only more people would practice liberalism the problems in today’s world would, in my opinion, decrease. I feel this way because even at my young age of twenty I realize that most of the problems that arise today are a direct result of people’s prejudice, discrimination, and misunderstanding of other people. Just look at what liberalism has helped to accomplish so far. Liberalism has helped to abolish slavery, expand political participation, develop a bill of rights and work for human rights generally, and it help lead to more humane treatment of animals.
