... In 1580 he returned to Milan where he took up his studies in anatomy, town planning, and optics engineering. Leonardo moved to Rome in 1513, on the invitation of the newly –elected pope, Guiliano De Medici. Three years later The King of France invited Leonardo to France where he was given the title of the first painter, engineer, and architect to the King. Leonardo died on May 2nd 1519, when he was sixty-seven years old. He was buried in the Church of St. Valentine. He willed all his paintings, drawings, and various instruments and tools to his loved ones. -Ginevra de Benci: This painting was finished in 1474. Leonardo painted it on wood with oils. Known as his most confrontational portrait of a woman. -Self-Portrait: He drew a self-portrait of himself. Inventions -Flying Ship: Most imaginative invention conceived by Leonardo. The flier’s seats were located inside a shell-shaped vessel that controlled the two large bat-like wings. An interesting detail is the ample plane in the tail used to hence the direction of the ship itself.
