Legalization of marijuana

Although no one has ever died from smoking marijuana, this does not mean that it may not causes other problems within your body. This can also be said for many prescribed drugs we take on a daily bases that have side effects. Many of use take Aspirin or Tylenol to cure our headaches, these pills have been known to deteriorate ones liver if taken on a regular bases. Besides the healing power marijuana posses it is also known that marijuana is less dangerous then tobaccos as people tend to smoke less of it at a time. If our government was to legalize marijuana it could possible replace ten to twenty percent of prescribed drugs now in use. If our country is so against the uses of marijuana then how come they have budgeted for scientific research in the use of medicinal marijuana. The fact of the matter if that the government is not so opposed to using marijuana for medicinal purposes, but that they want to monopolize the business. We as taxes payers are always looking for other ways to decrease the amount of taxes that we have to pay. This year alone the government has risen the price of tobacco as well as the amount of hydroelectricity we pay for our houses. If we look at how much money was consumed last year form the selling of illegal marijuana we can see that it would raise our country's profits significantly. Each year almost 7 billion dollars is made through the exporting of pot. If Canada was to legalize marijuana then they would be able to capitalize on its profits. Since they would control the selling of it they could charge a hefty amount increasing Canada's net growth. Although the price may be higher then what a dealer may have charge in the past, many people would purchase it without having to worry about fines or jail time. Legalizing marijuana would created a large economic stimulant which right now our country needs as our dollar is quite lower then that of other countries. As we know their are many people in the world that sell and/or grow marijuana. Under the Drug Act this is deemed illegal and prison time or fines can occur. If marijuana was legalized it would decrease the crime rate and would eliminate the need for an underground subculture. Today all marijuana is purchased illegal and the government has no control over the way it is used. If it were legalized the government would control the selling and growing of it, which intern would eliminate many of the problems we hear about on the news or read in the paper. Not only would it eliminate the need for dealers, but it eliminate the need for secrecy as it would no longer be against the law to purchase it. With the government having control over the selling of weed it would also control who purchases marijuana, similar to the purchasing of tobacco. Parents could worry less about their teenagers purchasing marijuana under age as well as deterring teenagers from getting invol...
