... the desert most of his life to be able to act and behave like that of an Arab person. He was very disciplined and controlled when he ate or drank. A normal human being would be dying of thirst after about every hour in the hot sand, but he was able to control his urges. During one scene of the movie an Arab by the name of Gasim dozed off and fell off his camel when they were crossing the Nefud desert. The Nefud desert was the most feared desert in Arabia due to its brutal environment. Well, after Lawrence and the other Arabs finally crossed the desert they noticed he was missing. Lawrence decided to go back and look for him but everyone refused to go with him because going back was considered mad. So, he went back and found Gasim and took him up on his camel and crossed the desert again. This shows that Lawrence persevered through one of his hardest obstacles in the movie. The second scene that struck me was how Lawrence was able to convince all the tribal leaders to go with him to Aqaba and fight off the most hated Turks. He said that even though they were from different tribes they were still of one race, the Arabs. At first he thought of the Arabs as a little people, silly people, greedy, barbarous and cruel because of their hatred for each other. So he united Ali’s tribe the Harith with Auda’s tribe the Houetat to attack the city of Aqaba. Ali agreed to go with Lawrence because he did it as a deed for Prince Fiesal. Auda agreed to go with Lawrence because he said he would do it for pleasure and that Lawrence said there would be gold in the city. His unification almost fell apart when they were at the brink of a city when one of Ali’s men shot a man from Auda’s tribe. This meant they had to execute the murderer. To calm the situation Lawrence did the execution himself so that there would be no bloodshed among the two tribes. As the tribes got to know each other more they formed a closer bond and were good friends. The third scene that struck me was Lawrence’s close bond he had with the tribal lords Ali and Auda.
