The Kangha, Kesh, Kara and Kaccha are all religious items that the Canadian law allows them to wear freely as a symbol that they are practicing Sikhs. First if all these religious items are allowed to be worn there is no reason why the Kirpan should not be allowed to be worn because it is just as significant as the others and is taking away their right to practice their religion. Second many other religions are allowed to carry religious items such as the cross freely. Last the Kirpan is never to be used unless the Sikh religion as a whole is under attack which in Canada or any other part of the world should not happen anyway. After looking at the requirements of the 5k’s it is easy to see that it is not right to stop Sikhs from showing their faith in their religion by wearing a Kirpan. Khalistan is the homeland of the Sikhs which they have been denied of having for many years but someday hope to have. The dream of many Sikhs is to form this homeland where all their people can live. Carrying the Kirpan gives them incentive to fight to create Khalistan as well as helps Sikhs around the world stay together until then. Sikhs also carry the Kirpan in protection of their homeland and to remind them to always fight for it.
