...me a lawyer and when his father died in 1838 he applied himself to his favorite subject and left the Berlin University in 1841 with a Doctorate in Philosophy. Marx then returned to Tier to marry his childhood sweetheart, Jenny Von Westphalen, and accepted a position as editor of a daily newspaper in Cologne. He began publishing articles based own his own political views and the paper’s subscribers quadrupled within two moths. The Government, however, banned the newspaper in 1843. Karl was then offered a similar position in Paris, but the French government expelled him after just two years. Marx then fled to Belgium, where he met his new associate, Friederich Engels. Marx and Engels observed the socio-economic changes that were taking place in England and France. Marx then began to develop his theories that would lead to his most well known work, The Communist Manifesto, in 1848. Marx’s basic beliefs are that : humans must produce food and material goods in order to survive. As a result of this they must enter into social relationships with others, and production becomes a social enterprise. There is also a technical component to manufacturing that includes the technology, scientific knowledge, and the raw materials used in production.
