The helplessness of the man pictured in the narrative as he died in vain was significant in that some people in the real world feel the same way when they are unable to live as main beings in their lives, their subjectivity lost in the midst of others' expectations and values. Secondly, the connection between the Law and the doorkeeper resembled the obstacles that exist in a person's reach forward to his aspirations. Just as the countryman in the tale could not avoid the doorkeeper to get to the Law, one has to face various barriers in order to achieve what he aims for. These obstacles may be people with authority and social consciousness or any other types of hardships that lie before a man in his path towards his dreams. Whatever the obstacles may be, the important truth is that they exist solely for the man who endeavors after his dream, just as th doorkeeper was an obstacle that had to be overcome by the countryman alone if he did not abandon his desires to gain admittance through the door to the Law. Difficulties are indispensable factors in a person's existence that must be surmounted in order to establish subjecthood in life. Finally, the relationship between the countryman and the doorkeeper showed the passiveness of human beings in facing their obstacles.
