The Gemini program was made to get the United States ready to go to the moon. What they did to get ready for the moon was make a man stay in space for two weeks or over that. They were all launched from cape Canaveral Florida. Basically the Gemini program was to get people ready for the Apollo program. After the Gemini program the next space program was the Apollo program. Apollo 1 was the first big failure of the space program that resulted in a few people dieing. What went wrong with the Apollo 1 flight was the spacecraft was completely filled with oxygen and that is highly flammable and after a lot of delays there was a spark in the craft and it was completely engulfed in flames. Ten Apollo missions later was Apollo 11 was the first lunar landing the first two people to get out were Nail Armstrong and Edwin e. Aldrin or how most people know him buzz Aldrin. The third person on the spacecraft was Michael Collins. They spent two and a half-hours out side of the ship well Michael Collins stayed inside they collected about fifty lbs of soil from the moon.
