...ess had the trumpet solo. Most of the notes that he played were slurred out and I thought was interesting to have a solo with most of your notes slurred into one another. It seemed like after about 16 beats he would hit his note with emphasis then go back to slurring. Eric Hirsch had the piano solo and I must admit he is the first young piano player that I saw with that kind of speed and talent. His solo kind of made me feel like I was in a nice place, instead of the other players in the band, which I felt like their music, was hard and rough. Slide’s Derangement was a nice piece also that I will review. Slide Hampton scored it. The instruments that had solo’s were Brad Linde – Tenor sax, Jack Sorock – piano, Vamsi Tadepalli – alto sax, Will Caviness – trumpet, and Dustin Rohrer – drums. This piece was different than the rest of the pieces. It seemed as if this was a well-liked piece because a lot of the instruments were too dynamic. The trumpets seemed to be the loudest through the song. In this piece each note could be picked out. The tenor and alto sax solo’s played together and I thought that it had a great sound and good note quality that they put together. They played different solo’s, but it seemed like they fit together, but you could tell that they were different solo’s. The trumpet solo was very good; it was clean and very articulate. The majority of the solo was slurred and I thought that was very interesting. Over all on this piece the only part that I think that could have made it better was the dynamic level through the piece.
