...f articles, I have chosen to do a comparison between two newspapers: the Globe and Mail, and the Toronto Sun, of the first article that flooded the papers on October 22, 2002, the day after the information of the Ossuary was released. My reasons for selecting these two papers, are because both are Toronto-based newspapers, yet are written very differently, catering to different intended readers. Since I live in Toronto, I have had exposure to both newspapers. Through a critical discourse analysis I will show and discuss some patterns that the writers of the Globe and Mail, and the Sun have within their texts and the assumptions that they carry with them as they write and represent their respected papers.
