Serial Dilutions of Sodium Chloride Solutions Standard solutions of sodium chloride were prepared from reagent grade sodium chloride in deionized water. 0.2939g of sodium chloride stored in an oven was placed in a 50mL volumetric flask and diluted to the mark with distilled water. Serial dilutions of a 0.1M stock solution were prepared to the following concentrations: 1e-2M, 1e-3M, 1e-4M, 1e-5M, 1e-6M. To prepare these dilutions, 5mL of the stock was pipeted into a 50mL volumetric flask and it was diluted to the mark with deionized water. Then, 5mL of this solution was pipeted into a 50mL volumetric flask and diluted to the mark with deionized water. This dilution process was continued down to 1e-6M. Chloride Analysis with Ion Selective Electrode Analysis of each sample was performed by an Ion selective electrode (ISE) manufactured by [company, city, state] and connected to potential meter manufactured by [company, city, state]. Starting with 10mL of the most dilute (1e-6M) solution in a 150mL beaker; the ISE was then placed into solution with a magnetic stir bar. The potential of each dilution was recorded (millivolts) after the potential meter had adequate time to stabilize. This procedure was then repeated in triplicate for the quality control and water sample collected. Calibration Curve From the data collected by the initial serial dilutions of known concentration, a calibration curve was created using Microsoft Exce...
