...The Island of Doctor Moreau, environment is critical to understanding the nature of Dr. Moreau and his man made beasts. Not only do his descriptions of the environment enhance the readers senses, it ties into the story acting almost as a character in it self. “The beast qualities take over his (Moreau) experiments and he eventually becomes a product of an environment that’s not supposed to be embarked upon (Philmus 1).” The environment dictates what went on, on the island. If Moreau was not on an island that resembled a jungle he might not have had the same outcomes of his experiments. “The environmental factors surrounding Moreau’s island are significant.
