Is what we call reality really real?
...ctually the true reality? The allegory and Matrix both answer this question in the same way. The large white room of the matrix and the blank wall of the cave are considered to be the minds of the people. It is obvious to say that the minds of the people in both stories are being tricked. The false reality of the allegory is just shadows placed on the blank wall of the cave. The people looking at these shadows do not realize that there are people behind them. Plato calls these shadow makers puppet-handlers. In the Matrix, machines are tricking all the people. They can be considered as the modern-day puppet-handlers. They have made a series of code, which together makes up the matrix world for the humans so they can use the humans as batteries to keep them alive. The people accept what their senses are telling them and they believe what they are experiencing is all that exist. These stories show that what we believe as truth may not necessarily be real. The person in these stories has absolutely no clue about the world outside of their own until someone comes along and shows them what is true. Plato names the person freed from the cave as the philosopher or the intellectual. Neo is the name of the person who was freed from the virtual world of the matrix. The way the person becomes free is similar in these two stories. The intellectual was unchained from the cave while Neo was unplugged from the virtual world of the matrix. ...
