Is revenge ever justifiable?

He then performs the murder of Polonius, Ophelia¡¯s father, accidentally in the thought of him being Claudius. This brings to Ophelia¡¯s sadness and discouragement for her love towards Hamlet. It also causes her brother, Laertes¡¯ madness for revenge. Same situation, Laertes is ready to kill the Hamlet right away thinking that he has murdered his father. Driven by the madness for revenge, Laertes sets up a dreadful plan with Claudius to kill Prince Hamlet- he will use a poisoned sword in a sword-fight with Hamlet; Claudius will put poison in Hamlet¡¯s drink. When the sword fight begins Hamlet is winning, but Laertes gets frustrated and stabs Hamlet with the poisoned sword when Hamlet is not ready. Meanwhile, Queen Gertrude drank Hamlet¡¯s wine and died. Hamlet then turns around and manages to take the sword from Laertes and stabs him with it. After all, it is the pursue for revenge killed the entire royal family, including the people who are looking for a revenge. Ironically, Claudius, originally the subject of the revenge, survives until the very last of the play. On the other hand, young Fortinbras, son of King Fortinbras of Norway, who was killed by King Hamlet, chooses a wise way to regain what was taken from his father.
