His tone is bitter and angry and, naturally, the first inclination of the reader is to ask what brings about such negative feelings? The answer to this can be complicated and evokes different interpretations. Gulliver begins his travels in the world of Lilliput, where the creatures are six inches high and resemble humans. However, they are as small in state of mind as in physical appearance. The Lilliputians are narrow-minded and quite bitter. Ironically, this is the same state in which Gulliver will find himself at the conclusion of his adventures, as his pride is continuously chipped at and eventually whittles away to nothing. fskhngbvksdbvkdbvksdbvBecause of their size, the Lilliputians are crafty, sneaky, and vengeful beings compared to Gulliver. They dramatize slight differences in opinion (i.e. – opening an egg from the big end or the small end) to the point where violence becomes the only solution. Their process of electing government officials is extremely strange and offers no logical insight to whether the subject is qualified for the position or not. In their judicial system, convicted offenders suffer harsh penalties (mostly cruel deaths) for minor crimes. To sum up the existence of these little monsters in one word; they are superbly bizar...
