... a good Catholic doesn’t mean that you have to go to Church and abide every rule and teaching. A good Catholic to her is someone who is caring, nice, respectful, non-judgemental and genuine on helping create a better world. Sara believes that being a good Catholic does mean that you follow the teachings and beliefs but also a person who is an individual and develops their own opinions. Sara would like to think that she is a good Catholic, but in saying that she is would imply that she is ‘up herself’ and she believes that a good Catholic is not ‘up herself’. Sacraments are important to her and she has participated in baptism, communion, conformation and marriage. Marriage inevitably put stress and tension on her faith because she married a man who wasn’t religious and didn’t respect her religion. A person has several influences in their lives and Sara had plenty and still does. Her parents, school teachers, relatives and her local parish influenced her as a teenager. They influenced her by teaching her values such as love and respect for everything and one, going to a Catholic school helped and encouraged her to make up her own opinions on personal topics. She allowed herself to become influenced by these people because she respected what they had said, also believed what they were saying such as the Ten Commandments. Being a Catholic has helped Sara to stay in control of her life because it has given her guidelines and rules to help her stay grounded when needed. She believes that no matter what God and Jesus will always be there if she needs them because they created her and she will love them and cherish them forever. Sara enjoys being a Catholic because it gives herb freedom inside a community, which have similar beliefs to her and can help her to understand the beliefs. For personal reasons, which were not stated Sara doesn’t believe in every belief in the Bible and what Catholicism believes in. she has been respected of her decisions regarding her beliefs which helps her to understand her life and the way that things work.
