Intellectual Experiences
...hardships only reinforced and prepared me to face other challenges in the future. Today I’m a well educated and accomplished person who speaks four languages fluently: English, Gujarati, Hindi, and Spanish. Furthermore, one of my most important intellectual experiences was the voluntary work I did at Sri Venkanteswara Hindu Temple over the past three years where I gained significant knowledge about my culture and religion. I designed flower garlands for the idols of Gods and Goddesses. In addition, I listened to the priests there about the genesis of the Hindu religion and watched them while they performed their rituals. Moreover, I had attended lectures by the priests about the principles of Bhagavad Gita, the sacred scripture of India and Hindus’ Holy Testament at India Association of East Brunswick. These lectures had a major impact on my life as I learned about the “divine communion of truth-realization between man and his Creator and about the teachings of the Spirit through the wisdom of the Soul.” I also learned that we came from God and our ultimate destiny is to return to Him. It was a cathartic experience which changed my life forever. Most recently, I have committed 200 hours of voluntary work at Somerset Medical Center where I transported and discharged patients, filed patient files at X Ray Department, and delivering medical records.
