The Potawatomi Indians lived on the shores of Lake Michigan from the eastern endof Lake Surperior to Green Bay Wis., and in other areas around Lake Michigan. By 1700, groups of Potawatomis had moved into the Chicago and Detroit areas. Some of the major Potawatomi Indian tribes lived along the St. Joseph River in Michigan and Indiana.
