...an old broken record player playing a scratched record. I could not hardly even understand what they were saying. Now Floetry is a group that sings poetry instead of reading poetry. They are a Neo Soul group. Neo Soul is a jazzy, poetry, and R&B type of music. They song a song called “Getting Late,” which is a love song about getting hurt by your mate. Floetry was ok, but I would not go out and buy their albums. But the audience liked them. I guess that is what counts. India Arie was the last performer. When she came out, almost everybody stood up clapping and screaming out her name. I guess they saved the best for last. India Arie is a Neo soul artist. She sings songs about real life situations or things that happened to her. Her music and voice has a jazz feel to it. She song many songs off of her old and new albums. Such as: “Brown Skin,” “Video,” “Slow Down,” “True Color,” “Beautiful Surprise” etc. Two of her song I really enjoyed were “Brown Skin” and “Video.” I enjoyed them because they have a message in them. The message is the beauty is skin deep, don’t worry about how those super models look, and be yourself. While she was performing a song, she started to cry. She cried because the song “Slow Down” reminded her of what happened at the Grammy’s. That she was nominated for eight awards and she did not win even one. She knows how to play the flute and guitar.
