...nd their role in the relationship between man and the earth. Key Physical Processes: Physical - Geologists locate many physical resources such as soil and petroleum. Chemical - Geologists use different chemical to test the quality of water. Astronomical - N/A Meteorological - The earth as a planet has its own internal and external heat engines. Geological - Geologists locate resources such as petroleum, water and soil. They also study natural geological hazards. Main Points of the Program: The film explained how geologists help locate valuable resources that we all use such as petroleum, water and soil. Some methods used are seismology and satellite remote sensing. They also help protect people by studying natural occurring geological hazards such as volcanoes and earthquakes. Geologists try to predict and understand these phonemes which kill so many people. Critique: I gained an appreciation for the work of geologists through this film. I appreciate the obligations they feel to society and the global awareness they promote. Title: The Energy Balance Theme of the Program: To show how the earth system manage energy balance. Key Physical Processes: Physical - The earth has many physical systems that shift and transfer energy throughout. Some examples of energy reflectors are snow, ice and clouds. Chemical - Gasses in atmosphere, water vapor and carbon dioxide make atmosphere like a giant greenhouse. Astronomical - N/A Meteorological - Meteors, asteroids and comets are some things that trigger temperature changes. Geological - Slow moving glaciers carved out cliffs thousands of years ago. Main Points of the Program: The earth has many systems to balance energy. There are also many things that trigger temperature changes in the earth. Some of these are: volcano debris that reflect heat, meteors, asteroids and comets, CO2 in the atmosphere. Scientists can study glaciers to get earths record of temperature over many thousands of years. Critique: This film helped me appreciate one of earths mechanisms. It is important to understand the earth and how people affect its natural systems. Title: Global Winds Theme of the Program: To explain global winds and how they are useful. Key Physical Processes: Physical - Winds cause swells in the ocean. Chemical - Convection is air movement caused by heat. Astronomical - N/A Meteorological - Curious affect is caused by earth’s rotation. Geological - N/A Main Points of the Program: Global winds affect the oceans, for example swells are caused by wind. Wind patterns of the earth are divided into sections such as doldrums, calm zones and mid . Convection and Carioles effect ...
