These Honduran women are considered slaves to these ringleaders, because I believe any money they earn while working for them, will definitely belong to the ringleaders. It was kind of strange to hear that the ringleaders were from Chuluteca, Honduras and were all related to each other. You would imagine they would try to help their own culture by helping them progress in life and help them earn a decent living in the United States, but instead they take advantage of them. After reading Chapter 2 and reviewing the section on immigration, I found interesting the Student Debate on whether immigration should be restricted. I do not think immigration should be restricted, just because some people think immigrants are taking over jobs and leaving Americans without jobs, which that is incorrect in my opinion. It is actually harder for immigrants to find jobs because so many out there require knowing English. Many jobs that uneducated immigrants get are usually hard labor jobs and are underpay. Many immigrants do their best to get educated and earn their degrees to get the job they want, but we, as Americans cannot be upset because we have the same opportunity. We hear people complaining about how all these immigrants are taking over employment, but we do not realize that they are paying taxes just like us and they deserve the same treatment. We need to be considerate to immigrants that are just here to make a decent living, because United States has more to offer than we can imagine.
