When Hugh was shot in battle, he took off his watch and hid it in the cracks of two rocks, fearing that the Yankees would rob it off his dead body. Hugh asks Ben if he can help him find the lost watch on the New Market battlefield, more then a hundred years later. A recreation of the battle occurs, Ben finds where the watch was placed, and donates it to the institute, only then was when Hugh goes back to the institute to join his fellow ghost cadets. This book’s time period of the Civil War was in 1864, more precisely during the Battle of New Market where the southern Confederates won the battle.
