When he found out that Ms. Watson was planning to sell him down South, he did everything possible to avoid that devastation. Huck says his plans are to go to Cairo where the Ohio River comes in and “get on a steamboat and go way up the Ohio amongst the free states” (78). He would dream about it everyday until he finally decided that it was time. Although he knew the risks he was taking he went along with it. This showed how bad he wanted to be free and that it would pay off at the end. All the actions that Jim took throughout the book were good ones. Although these things confused him he still kept his dream about going to the free states. Huck demonstrates two point of view about society throughout the book. He never follows the rules or laws, yet he still believes that slavery is the right thing because that is what society has taught him. In chapter two Twain depicts Tom Sawyer as a major influence upon Huck’s behavior and views towards society. For example Tom says, “we stop stages and carriages on the road, with masks on, and kill the people and take their watches and money” (10).
