How Would A Major Discovery of Gold and Oil Change the Future?

With the Russians a superpower, they just might decide to go in and take over all of the Middle Eastern countries that export oil. This would cause World War Three. Anybody who doesn’t want the Russians controlling the oil would go to war against the Russians. If the Russian gold were to hit the market, it would destabilize our economy because it would cause the value of the dollar to drop. The value of gold would drop because there is a new large amount of it. If gold was $25 per pound, when the Russians refined their gold, it could drop to $10 a pound. The US and every other gold-dependant country would lose value and it would upset their cash value. The economy would be chaos and it could be the Great Depression all over again. But if the Russians don’t get to the gold and oil to export it we wont have that problem. The gold and oil stay there and become a “unusable” site. Nobody could get to it because Siberia is a frozen wasteland. Everything would stay there. We wouldn’t have to worry about the Russian government getting to powerful and trying to rebuild the Soviet Union again. I would prefer to deal with the Middle East over oil than the Russians. We can deal with the Middle East, but we couldn’t do that to the Russian government. If the Middle East countries try to raise the price to high, we would go in and lay down the line. We wouldn’t cheat the Middle East out of the money but they wouldn’t get away with “highway robbery” as it’s called. There is enough gold in the world as it is. We are content with the amount of gold that we have in Fort Knox and don’t want the value of it to drop. If it where to drop, we could slip into an economic depression.
