Take the excess oil and rub it on the rubber seal if you do not do this the seal may rip and cause the filter to leak. Then replace your new filter where the old one went. After you have done this, make sure you put the drain plug back in its place. Make sure it is tight. Then you are ready to put the new oil in the motor. Find the oil fill cap and remove it.
