...nding. I suggest using an orbital sander, because they work really well and won’t tear up the body of your guitar. You would want to use 220 grit sandpaper when you start sanding the body. After about a half-hour of sanding, you would want to switch to a 400 grit sandpaper, which it smoother to work out the scratches in the body. After you work with the 400 grit for about a half hour to forty-five minutes, you should take your guitar out in the sunlight and look at it from all angles to see if there are any scratches in it. If there are scratches in it, you will want to sand until they disappear because when you stain or finish your guitar, they will show up. Now it is time to finish the guitar’s body and the back of the neck. You can stain the body and clear coat it after the stain dries. You can just clear coat it and see the natural wood color, which I prefer. If you just put clear coat on it, use polyurethane by Minwax. The finish is specifically intended to be wiped on with a bad or soft cloth. Expect to put on about four coats of finish. Let the finish dry overnight and sand between coats with 600 grit sandpaper. Very little sanding is needed when sanding between coats. Apply one last coat of finish and let it dry for several days. Once it is dry, get a rubbing compound like Turtle Wax and gently rub the guitar down with the Turtle Wax with a damp cloth.
