how secure do i feel

...e people think that if it doesn’t directly affect them then they feel secure enough that it wont happen to them. I feel that those people in a way are being selfish. Whose to say that just because the tragic event didn’t happen to them doesn’t mean that it wont change at least one thing in their life. Other people feel that they don’t want something like 9/11 to hold them down they just want to live their lives. After a tragic event, if they just move on right away I believe that these people are living in denial. How can you ignore a situation that could change the way you live the rest of your life. Those are the people that think if a tragedy is going to occur theres nothing they can do to prevent it. But those people are part of the same nation that came together after 9/11 and donated blood, money, and hardowrk to pull our nation out of a crisis. Then theres the people that are scared of whats going to happen in the future. They do not feel safe enough to do the things they once were able to do like fly on a plane or work in a tall building. I feel that the people that stay afraid for a long time need to realize that bad things can occur at any time or in any place. They shouldn’t be that afraid that they cant live there lives at all. For me I feel a little of everything. Sure 9/11, the sniper shootings, and columbine didn’t directly affect me, but I know that it could happen to me at any time. It still changed my life in several ways. 9/11 cahnged how we go on airplanes like waiting in longer lines. Since 9/11 every event I go to my bag or pocketbook is searched. Columbine has changed my life by having school security tighter. After Columbine in Middle School we weren’t allowed to bring our backpacks to classes. So of course those events have affected me. Maybe nobody I know personally has died, but it still made me think of the victims and their families. Sure I don’t want 9/11 to hold me down. I want to be able to liv...
