...f the stories you can divide the people into different social classes. The black are always the servants, whereas the whites are in higher positions and act in a British manner. In “A Case of Poisoning” master Koko drinks his coffee and thinks that he got poisoned by the cook. The plot of the story is that he drank the locally processed coffee and not his usual Nescafé. The government has made a big advertisement campaign to promote the use of locally made products but the Minister did not even try them. In the other story “The Matyr” you can see that most of the blacks don’t like their jobs as a servant and do not understand why the settlers took away their land.
